Dividers

Boerner-type dividers

A Boerner-type divider is the only divider approved for use by the Canadian Grain Commission. It is a gravity-operated dividing apparatus that reduces a grain sample to smaller equal portions.

The grain sample is placed in the hopper and released by moving a slide gate located in the hopper throat. The grain is evenly dispersed over a cone that has 38 pockets. After initial separation, the grain is rejoined into two chutes which empty out of the bottom hopper.

The Boerner-type divider is calibrated to provide accurate splits of + /– 1% on a 1000 gram sample. It is made from brass and copper and is rust resistant. The legs and supports are brass plated steel and the unit is low enough to place on a countertop. It comes with two brass pans with handles for easy transport of divided samples.

Cargo-type dividers

The cargo-type divider is a high-capacity splitter that quickly divides large amounts of grain.

The grain sample is placed in the hopper and released by moving a slide gate located in the hopper throat. The grain is evenly dispersed over a cone that has 20 pockets. The grain, after initial separation, is rejoined into two chutes which empty out of the bottom hopper.

The cargo-type divider is ruggedly constructed of brass. The body measures 26-1/2″ including the spouts. The legs measure 18″ overall with a clearance from the spouts at 14-1/2″ to accommodate large buckets under the spouts. The legs slide into place, making the unit highly portable and easy to set up where needed.

Riffle Dividers

A riffled divider works well for halving chaffy grains and large beans. The unit features stainless steel dividing chutes and comes with galvanized iron pans, scoop, and a cleaning brush. The Riffle divider must be placed on a firm, level surface when in use.

The grain sample is spread evenly in a collection pan. The sample is transferred to the hopper by holding the long edge of the pan against the long edge of the hopper and then rotating the bottom of the pan up so that the sample pours across all pockets at the same time. The pockets discharge alternately in opposite directions into two pans.

Positive action dividers

A positive action divider handles seed, grain, and feed. This divider precisely splits larger sample into working size samples in a matter of seconds. It is ideal for small grains and seeds.

The sample is mixed and divided to 106 pockets by the centrifugal action of a motor-driven neoprene disc that revolves under the hopper. The inside of the unit has a smooth chrome-plated finish that virtually eliminates any of the sample sticking to the inner surfaces. Both the hopper and cylinder top lift off to provide easy access to the interior of the dividing chamber.

Also available are 5″ x 5″ graduated aluminum cups that fit nicely under the spouts and hold approximately 1 litre. The cups are graduated with ¼”, ½”, and ¾” marks.

Rotary dividers

A rotary divider is fast and accurate to a tolerance of +/-0.001 of the total sample by weight. A rotary divider can significantly reduce the length of time it takes to divide larger samples into specific sample sizes.

Each model has 10 rotary divisions that can be configured to provide the sample portions of your choosing. It can be any combination of numbers that adds up to 10.

  • For the 4203 model, you specify three divisions that represent a portion of the total. For example, 3-4-3 or 5-3-2.
  • For the 4204 model, you specify four divisions that represent a portion of the total. For example, 2-2-3-3 or 1-2-3-4.
